Gainsco's Motorsports Sponsorship Pays Dividends With Second Championship Win In Three Years
The No. 99 GAINSCO Auto Insurance Pontiac Riley Daytona Prototype racing team needed to finish at least fourth in last month’s Grand Prix of Miami at Homestead-Miami Speedway to clinch the 2009 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series Championships, and drivers Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty did just that to give title sponsor GAINSCO, Inc. its second Rolex Series championship title in the last three years.
The encore championship came after another banner season for the No. 99 GAINSCO Auto Insurance team, which saw victories over such blue-chip competitors as TELMEX/Chip Ganassi Racing, SunTrust Bank/Wayne Taylor Racing, and perennial powerhouse team Penske Racing and its title sponsor Verizon Wireless. In addition to capturing the prestigious Rolex Series Daytona Prototype team and driver championships, Team GAINSCO also led the series with four victories and six pole positions in the year’s 12 races.

24 At Daytona Driver Challenge To Return In 2010, Awarding A Seat In 2011
Heralded as the biggest prize in British motorsports, the Rolex 24 At Daytona Driver Challenge presented by Sunoco, will return in 2010, when competitors in four British racing series will vie for a coveted driver's seat in the 2011 Rolex 24 At Daytona.
Derek Johnston was the winner of the 2009 Rolex 24 At Daytona Driver Challenge presented by Sunoco, scoring the highest average point total among registered drivers competing in the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series, the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, the Radical UK Cup and the SPEED sports prototype series. As a result, Johnston earned a funded seat in a Daytona Prototype to compete in the 48th anniversary of the Rolex 24 At Daytona on Jan. 30-31. He will also test twice at Daytona, running in both the Dec. 8-9 and Jan. 8-10 sessions.

No. 99 Gainsco Auto Insurance Championship Racing Show Car To Appear At Mountain Moonshine Festival
GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing clinched its second Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series Team and Driver Championships less than two weeks ago at Homestead-Miami Speedway, and primary team sponsor GAINSCO Auto Insurance hasn’t slowed down one bit. The No. 99 GAINSCO Auto Insurance racing show car – an exact replica of the 185-mph Pontiac Riley Daytona Prototype that carried GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing and drivers Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty to the 2007 and 2009 championships – will maintain a busy touring schedule for the rest of the year. Its next stop is this weekend’s 42nd annual Mountain Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville, Ga.

Aim Autosport: A Complete Season - Team Ends The Grand-Am Rolex Spots Car Series Sixth Overall
The Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series season came to a dramatic close for AIM Autosport this past weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. In a tight battle for fifth place in the championship, the No 61 Ford Riley needed a solid finish in the race to secure the position. In the end, Burt brought the car to the checkered flag in ninth position – well ahead of the No 6 car that it had to beat. The 58 and 59 cars however, had a better day and would appear to have vaulted ahead of AIM in the championship.

While Joao Barbosa and Hurley Haywood won Saturday's Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 season-ending Grand Prix of Miami, Jon Fogarty and Alex Gurney finished fourth to capture their second Daytona Prototype championship.
Barbosa passed Scott Pruett on the back straight with 28 minutes - or Lap 84 of 100 - remaining in the two-and-half hour race to score his first Daytona Prototype triumph, while Haywood - a late addition to the Brumos lineup - scored his first victory since winning a pair of races at Homestead and Phoenix in 2003.
"This is a testament to the Brumos legacy," said the 61-year-old Haywood. "To put an old guy in the car with hardly any practice time, and to have Joao bring the car home in the dramatic fashion he did, well, that is Brumos. I don't think anybody thought we could win today - it's just overwhelming."
