Yelmer Buurman To Test With Sam Schmidt Motorsports In Florida Next Week
Sam Schmidt Motorsports announced today that Dutchman Yelmer Buurman would take part in a pair of tests next week in Florida in one of the team's Firestone Indy Lights machines.
Buurman will drive on the Homestead-Miami Speedway on February 9th and at Palm Beach International Raceway on February 12th. The tests will allow the team and driver to evaluate each other and give Buurman a sample of American open-wheel racing.

TMS Boss Gossage Welcomes New IndyCar Boss
The following is a statement from Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage regarding the announcement today from the Indy Racing League that Professional Bull Riders, Inc. Chief Executive Officer Randy Bernard has been named chief executive officer of the league. Texas Motor Speedway plays host to the IRL IZOD IndyCar Series on June 5 for the Texas 550k.

Bernard Named CEO Of Indy Racing League
Randy Bernard, longtime CEO of Professional Bull Riders, Inc., has been named CEO of the Indy Racing League, the sanctioning body of the IZOD IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights.
His hiring was announced today by Jeffrey Belskus, president and CEO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation, the home of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race and owner of the Indy Racing League. Bernard will begin March 1.
“Randy is the right person at the right time to head the Indy Racing League,” Belskus said. “He brings a superb sports marketing and promotion background, proven CEO skills, energy and enthusiasm at a time when the IZOD IndyCar Series is positioned for growth.”

Justin Wilson And Mike Conway Join Dreyer And Reinbold Racing For 2010 Izod IndyCar Series Season
Dreyer and Reinbold Racing is excited to announce that British drivers, Justin Wilson and Mike Conway, will join the team’s full-time IZOD IndyCar Series effort for the 2010 season.
Not only does the duo bring an extensive amount of talent to the table, but combined they create an exceptionally strong pairing. Conway will continue to ride the momentum from his rookie year at DRR into the coming season. His 2009 campaign marked his first year in IndyCar competition. Conway proved his versatility in the off-season as he successfully completed three days of Formula One testing for the now named Mercedes Benz GP team. After spending six years in U.S.-based-open-wheel racing, Wilson will bring his veteran experience to DRR. The 32-year-old quickly showed that he was an established winner, when he won his first IndyCar race in 2008 at Belle Isle and again last year at Watkins Glen.

IZOD IndyCar Series Has Super Bowl XLIV Ties, Danica Patrick On Power 100 List
The Indy Racing League Championship Cup, hoisted by Dario Franchitti at Homestead-Miami Speedway in October, will be on display in downtown Miami this week as part of the Eats, Beats and Cleats fan event preceding Super Bowl XLIV.
Eats, Beats and Cleats, which replaces the NFL Experience, will showcase more than 75 current and former NFL All-Stars and other sports legends during the four-day event on Lincoln Road.

IZOD IndyCar Series driver Justin Wilson co-drove the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates car to a runner-up finish in the Rolex 24 At Daytona on Jan. 31.
Wilson teamed with Scott Pruett, Max Papis and Memo Rojas. The No. 01 entry was just one of two Daytona Prototypes to finish on the lead lap, finishing 52.303 seconds behind the No. 9 Action Express Racing car.

Over the weekend, he drove in the Rotax Senior division of the CKI Florida Cup in Homestead, Fla. - the first of 13 scheduled karting events he'll compete in around the IZOD IndyCar Series schedule.

Brazilian Drivers To Meet With President Lula
IZOD IndyCar Series drivers Helio Castroneves, Tony Kanaan, Raphael Matos, Vitor Meira and Mario Moraes and Firestone Indy Lights standout Ana Beatriz are scheduled to participate in a photo opportunity with Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Feb. 2 in the capital city of Brasilia.
The meet and greet is in advance of the inaugural São Paulo Indy 300 on the streets of the state capital March 14. It will be the first IZOD IndyCar Series race in South America and will kick off the 17-race season.

VIDEO PREVIEW: IndyCar Star Dan Wheldon’s Bobsled Crash Featured on Speed Channel
A frightening bobsled crash involving National Guard Panther Racing driver Dan Wheldon will be featured this Sunday at 5 p.m. (EST) during SPEED channel’s broadcast of the annual Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge.
Wheldon, who was attending the event on behalf of the National Guard, was in Lake Placid taking a demonstration ride with NHRA driver Phil Burkhart, when he flipped the bobsled – sending Wheldon out the back of the sled, where he slid down the remainder of the course at just under 70 mph.

Helmet Signed By Indy 500 Winners Added To Haiti Relief Auction
A helmet signed by 22 Indianapolis 500 winners is among the unique new items added recently to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway eBay auctions to benefit American Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti, which already have raised more than $8,400.
Indy winners who signed the helmet include Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon, A.J. Foyt, Gordon Johncock, Buddy Lazier, Arie Luyendyk, Rick Mears, Bobby Rahal, Jim Rathmann, Buddy Rice, Johnny Rutherford, Tom Sneva, Al Unser, Al Unser Jr., Bobby Unser, Dan Wheldon and more.
