Phoenix: Reed Sorenson NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Preview

Reed Sorenson and his No. 43 Richard Petty Motorsports team travels to Phoenix this weekend following an off-week filled with Easter eggs and relaxation.

This Saturday’s Subway Fresh Fit 500 will mark the first time Sorenson climbs behind the wheel of an Auto Value-sponsored No. 43 Dodge. Auto Value, a longtime sponsor of the organization now known as Richard Petty Motorsports, begins its four-race 2009 NASCAR schedule, hoping that the change in livery will begin a climb of sorts out of the 30th spot in the series standings.

Sorenson will be making his seventh career star at Phoenix International Raceway, where he finished 15th in 2007.

The Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix Int’l Raceway will be aired on FOX on Saturday, April 18 at 8 pm EST.

**REEDS’S QUOTES ON AUTO VALUE, RACING IN THE DESERT**

Can you tell us about your relationship with Auto Value and how much you are looking forward the first for them in Phoenix?

"Auto Value has been a loyal supporter of this race team for quite a while and I’m flattered that they chose to sponsor my car this weekend. I’m a big fan of their auto parts stores and have been ever since I started tinkering on cars when I was younger. Having them on board as a sponsor this year is a pretty cool deal."

What are your thoughts on competing this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway?

"I really like Phoenix and I’ve had a lot of luck in the Nationwide car. I think this team can really put together a good run this weekend at such a unique race track. It’s a fun track to go to and I’m looking forward to trying to get a solid night of the Auto Value Dodge."

**AUTO VALUE/BUMPER TO BUMPER BEGINS 2009 SCHEDULE**

As Reed Sorenson gears up for his first race behind the wheel of an Auto Value-sponsored Dodge, Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper is set to begin its four-race schedule as the primary sponsor of Richard Petty Motorsports.

Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper, which kicks off its fifth year of NASCAR sponsorship this weekend, will join RPM this season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Phoenix (April 18) and Brooklyn, Mich. (August 16) and in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Loudon, N.H. (June 28) and Charlotte (October 16).

This year, Reed Sorenson, who will pilot the No. 43 Dodge in the two Sprint Cup Series races, will be joined by Elliott Sadler (who will take the wheel in the New Hampshire Nationwide Series race) and Kasey Kahne (who will compete at Charlotte) as part of the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Racing family.

**WIN REED’S RACE-USED HELMET**

A lucky fan will be the recipient of the NASCAR racing helmet worn by Reed Sorenson during the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway where he will drive the No. 43 Auto Value Dodge.

The "Win Reed Sorenson’s Race Helmet" Sweepstakes is open to residents of the United States, Canada, and Mexico at least 18 years at time of entry.

Visitors to the website (www.WinMyHelmet.com or www.800autotalk.com) can click the "Enter Now" link on the Sweepstakes promotional banner to register. On-line entry ends 12:00 pm CST on June 1, 2009. The grand prize winner will be selected on or about June 3, 2009 through a random drawing of all eligible entries received.

**STATISTICAL ANALYSIS: REED AT PIR IN NSCS COMPETITION**

- Reed Sorenson scored a career-best Phoenix finish in 2007 when he scored a 15th place finish in the April race.

- In six total races, Sorenson has led one lap (November, 2007).

- His best start at Phoenix came last November when he qualified 12th in his penultimate race for Chip Ganassi Racing.
