NFL's Kellen Winslow To Serve As Honorary NASCAR Race Official At Coke Zero 400

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Kellen Winslow has been named Honorary Race Official for the 51st annual Coke Zero 400 Powered Coca-Cola NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on Saturday, July 4, President Robin Braig announced.

Winslow, a first-round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns and recently acquired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will attend the driver’s meeting, participate in driver introductions and ride in one of the pace cars prior to the green flag waving on the Independence Day holiday classic.

"The Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola is a must-see NASCAR event that traditionally attracts celebrities and athletes from all around," Daytona International Speedway President Robin Braig said. "We’re excited to welcome a talented NFL star such as Kellen Winslow and look forward to his participation in pre-race festivities."

Winslow, the son of NFL Hall of Fame tight end Kellen Winslow Sr., was one of the greatest tight ends in school history at the University of Miami where he was a two-year starter with 119 catches for 1,365 yards and nine TDs in 38 games and won the John Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end.

In 2006, Winslow led all NFL tight ends with 89 receptions and tying the Cleveland Browns record for catches in a season. In 2007, he topped the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the first time and will kick off his sixth NFL season with his new team – the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – later this year.
