Two Wins For Tinks!

Harry Tincknell took two comfortable victories today in the first part of the 2009 Formula Renault Winter Series. CRS Racing’s Graduate Cup winner, who turned 18 on Thursday, cruised to the double win at Snetterton after taking pole position for both races.

After overnight rain the track was quite slippery for the single 20-minute qualifying session. With each driver’s two fastest laps determining their grid position for the two races, it was important to be consistently quick. Harry made sure that every lap counted and actually put in three laps that were fast enough for pole position.

After getting away well in race one, Harry was starting to pull out a gap when the safety car was despatched so he had to back off. Once he saw the safety car lights go out Harry knew the race was about to restart. Unfortunately as the safety car went in a driver went off at the Esses, sending the safety car straight back out again. Although Harry got away cleanly, in the confusion as to whether or not the race had restarted there was a six car pile-up that ultimately resulted in the race being abandoned.

Race two was far less dramatic and Harry got all of his sums right. Good start + build healthy gap + no dramas = race win.

Race one was re-run at the end of the day. Harry got a text book start and built up a gap, which was later boosted when the driver in second place went off on the greasy track. He crossed the line as the double-winner, delighted with his day’s work at Snetterton.

"That went exactly to plan," said Harry. "Aside from all the drama in the first race I had two very straightforward races today. Once I had built up a gap I was able to sit back and chill out a bit, concentrating on cruising around to the chequered flag. I hope we can have a repeat performance at Rockingham."

The final two Winter Series races take place next Saturday at Rockingham.
