V8 Supercar: Perkins Finishes 26th On Saturday At Phillip Island

Jack Perkins has finished 26th in the opening race of the Island 300 at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in Victoria today.

Perkins brought his #11 BET 247 Holden Commodore home on the lead lap in today’s 22-lap race.

With a longer race ahead of him tomorrow, Perkins is now looking to improve on this result for tomorrow, hoping to rekindle the form that saw him finish 13th fastest in practice earlier this morning.

Jamie Whincup took the race win ahead of Will Davison and Rick Kelly, who won Kelly Racing its first podium result at Phillip Island today.

WHAT JACK HAD TO SAY …

Jack Perkins - #11 BET 247 Holden Commodore:

“It's a disappointing day really,” said Jack Perkins.

“We had a good run in practice and were top 15 but missed it in qualifying.

“In the race we just didn't get it right and paid the ultimate price.

“The end result is not quite what we were expecting today, but it was definitely good to see Rick (Kelly) on the podium.

“Tyre wear is an issue all the time in the long races. We've got to look after the tyres tomorrow, do the best job we can, stay out of trouble and have a good race.”
