V8 Supercar: McNally Has Eye For Longer Sunday Race At Phillip Island
Hi-Tec Oils Racing driver Mark McNally says that he is looking forward to tomorrow’s 44-lap race around the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit after coming home in 27th in the opening hit-out at the Island 300 in Victoria today.
McNally showed improving speed in the final half of the race, his consistency on worn tyres a positive sign in Sunday’s longer race.
The V8 Supercar rookie continues to work closely with #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore Race Engineer Oscar Fiorinotto on improving his lap times around the fast and flowing circuit, which McNally is visiting for the second time this season.

WHAT MARK HAD TO SAY …
Mark McNally - #16 Hi-Tec Oils Holden Commodore:
“I'm looking forward to a longer race with more tyre wear because where I'm struggling at the moment in getting that gain out of a green tyre,” said Mark McNally.
“I'm stronger, comparatively speaking, at the end of the race. After the Safety Car I probably had considerable pace on the six or seven cars around me.
“So I'm actually looking forward to a longer race where the tyre degradation is quite high, everyone is slipping and sliding out there and I can hopefully run with them.
“We're making a few changes to try and get that speed on the green tyre and I think we're going to have a better run tomorrow.”
