Toyo Tires Equipped Cars Win Championships/Races at Redline Time Attack! Finale in Fontana

Team Toyo® racers won championships and scored wins this past weekend on Toyo Proxes® tires during the season finale (Round 8) at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. Ross Miller, driving the PTuning.com/Lustine/Toyo Tires Scion tC, scored his second consecutive Modified Class, Front Wheel Drive championship on Toyo Proxes® R888™ street legal competition tires. Manly Kao, driver of the Buddy Club Lotus Elise equipped with Proxes® R1R™ extreme performance tires, won the championship for the Rear Wheel Drive category of the West Region Buddy Club Street Class.

"The Toyo R888's played a significant role in helping PTuning achieve our second Redline Time Attack Championship. They were consistently fast, allowing me to safely push the car to its limits," said Miller. "These tires provided the team the best of both worlds… amazing grip and a long life. The Toyo R888's consistency, reliability, life, and speed all helped PTuning come home with another Championship."

The 2.5-mile long Fontana road race course provided a combination of high and low speed corners to challenge both driver and equipment. Driving his 550-horsepower RMR/Redbull/Toyo Tires Hyundai Genesis Coupe, Rhys Millen won the Drift class with a time of 1:48.004, nearly six seconds faster than the second place car. Millen’s Hyundai runs on Proxes R1R tires, the same tire that took him to a Pikes Peak Hill Climb class world record earlier this year.

Also winning at Fontana was JC Meynet driving the AQ Motorsports Honda S2000. Running on Proxes R888 tires, he blistered the course at a 1:45.462 to win the Modified Rear Wheel Drive class. Meynet was the 2008 Street AWD and Overall Street Grand Champion.

"We congratulate Ross Miller and Manly Kao for winning their championships, and to Rhys Millen and JC Meynet for their wins this past weekend," said Stan Chen, manager of events and motorsports, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. "This year, Toyo Proxes tires have won in all forms of motorsports, including SCCA Solo and Pro Solo championships. With the selection of tires available from Toyo Tires, it is easy for an enthusiast to select a product and be a contender."
