2010 Bristol: Toyota NASCAR Sprint Cup Qualifying Quotes

MARCOS AMBROSE, No. 47 Little Debbie Toyota Camry, JTG-Daugherty Racing Starting Position: 9th

How was your car in qualifying?

"We struggled in practice and that lap there felt like I stole it. It just shows you that you don’t need to get the car comfortable, you just have to run fast which ever way it works out. Just pumped up. Our team is strong and I’m really excited for the weekend and just for every single race this year. We have Little Debbie on board too for the first time this year. I am so proud to have their support and I’m just looking forward to Sunday."

DAVID REUTIMANN, No. 00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing Starting Position: 10th

How was your can in qualifying?

"It was okay, just a little bit tight. It’s a decent lap, but I think the track is getting quicker. It seems like the speeds have been gaining and it seems that everybody that went out kept getting quicker. I don’t know if it will hold up. It was a lot better than it was in practice. The guys did a good job. If it wasn’t a little too tight then it would be real fast."

DENNY HAMLIN, No. 11 FedEx Express Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing Starting Position: 15th

How was your car in qualifying?

"Good, it’s improving. That’s one good thing. We do keep getting better. I’m looking forward to this weekend, especially since we’re getting back to short track racing."

Can you see a difference on the track with the SAFER barrier change?

"I haven’t even noticed it. I walked up here and looked at it earlier and it doesn’t look like that much different. I don’t think it’s going to affect anyone. The only way it’s going to affect someone is maybe someone running the high line and they get up into the loose stuff. You’ll get in the wall quicker."

How was tire wear during practice?

"I thought the Nationwide usually runs in front of us, but I think they changed it this year where we are the first one on the race track. To me, it was a little bit different for sure with no rubber on the race track it was very slick at the beginning. It was a challenge. I think it has gotten better, we do see rubber where it is starting to build up on the race track, so it’s getting

MARTIN TRUEX JR., No. 56 NAPA Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing Starting Position: 19th

How was your car in qualifying?

"Not good. We got going pretty good in practice and made a few adjustments to try to get better and we just went the wrong way. The car pushed real bad right there. We were pretty good in practice. I’m a little disappointed that we slowed down, but it is what it is. We’ll get out there tomorrow."

What will be your strategy for Sunday’s race?

"I got pretty happy in race trim today. We unloaded pretty far off, but we got pretty good. I was pretty happy with the changes and we made a lot of headway. Tomorrow we’ll just go and start like that, keep working on it to try to get better. Not sure what the weather is going to be like, so we’ll have to wait and see. We’ll work on it tomorrow to get it the best we can and then guess for Sunday and tune it through the race."

BRIAN VICKERS, No. 83 Red Bull Toyota Camry, Red Bull Racing Team Starting Position: 28th

SCOTT SPEED, No. 82 Red Bull Toyota Camry, Red Bull Racing Team Starting Position: 29th

ROBBY GORDON, No. 7 Warner Music Nashville/Blake Shelton Toyota Camry, Robby Gordon Motorsports Starting Position: 32nd

JOE NEMECHEK, No. 87 FrontRowJoe.com Toyota Camry, NEMCO Motorsports Starting Position: 35th

KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 M&M’s Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing Starting Position: 38th

MICHAEL WALTRIP, No. 55 Toyota Camry, PRISM Motorsports Starting Position: 39th

How does it feel to be back in the car this weekend?

"It’s been awesome because I want to race Talladega. I want to think I can compete at Talladega, I want to go to some other races and being able to be subjected to this pressure, I know what it’s going to be like to qualify. While I’m not happy with what we just did, we contended and I love being with the guys. My brother (Darrell Waltrip) told me that’s what he missed the most when he stopped racing, was being with the guys. Just being able to be one of the boys that pushes the car around, it’s fun. I’m happy, I would do it more but I don’t have any money."

MAX PAPIS, No. 13 GEICO Toyota Camry, Germain Racing Starting Position: DNQ
