Spanish Midfielder Hernandez Named Top Euro 2008 Player
Spanish midfielder Xavi Hernandez was named the outstanding player of Euro 2008 after inspiring his country to victory over Germany in the tournament’s Final on Sunday.
Xavi set up Fernando Torres for the only goal of the game, and was instrumental in Spain’s successful run through one of the most memorable international tournaments in recent memory.
By lifting the trophy in Vienna, Spain ended a 44 year draught for silverware and is now one of only three nations (along with Germany and France) to win the continental championship more than once.
