Pacey Firth Encounters Tricky Weekend At Brands Hatch


The penultimate round of the Ginetta GT5 Challenge took place at Brands Hatch circuit this past weekend. Sunshine brought the crowds out to spectate as teams continued to fight for championship points.

Nick Firth once again led the attack for Optimum Motorsport, whilst Finlay Ractliffe sat out the trio of races, hopeful for a return at the Donington Park finale.

While the results weren't forthcoming, his rapid pace gave reason to be positive.

Villorba Corse Forced To Renounce To Portimao


Scuderia Villorba Corse announces its impossibility to take part in the sixth round of the Blancpain Sprint Series to be held next weekend in Portugal. Italian team is forced to renounce to Portimao because of the damages its Ferrari 458 suffered during previous round in Slovakia, as it has not been possible to repair the car in time. Villorba Corse is already working on next commitment in Belgium.

Ready For Action: 24h Barcelona At Circuit De Barcelona Catalunya This Weekend (5-7 September)


From Friday, September 5, till Sunday, Sepember 7, Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya in Montmeló will be the venue for the 24H BARCELONA, the annual endurance race for GTs, touring cars and 24H Specials. After the 24H DUBAI, the 12H ITALY-MUGELLO and the Hankook 12H ZANDVOORT, the race at the Spanish Grand Prix circuit will be the fourth round of this year’s 24H SERIES powered by Hankook. “The event is growing year after year, it is a great pleasure for us to be involved with this great race,” says Gerrie Willems on behalf of Dutch agency, CREVENTIC, organisers and promoters of the race in close co-operation with the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya and the Royal Automobile Club of Catalunya (RACC). “With 70 cars on the entry list, this is the largest entry in Barcelona for many years and with the great diversity of cars, we expect great racing!”

Portuguese Summer Battle in Portimao


The fifth round of the Blancpain Sprint Series will be held next weekend at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, near the Portuguese town of Portimao. The most recent Sprint Series event, at the Slovakiaring, produced some eventful races, with a surprise result at the end. Everything is set for the Portuguese race to be at least as exciting.

Final 2014 CTCC This Weekend, 2014 Champions Are Crowned


This weekend, CTCC presented by Continental held its final event of the 2014 season. Two races were on the program, which would eventually crown the champions in all three categories. In Super Class, Gary Kwok and Rémy Audette shared the victories, while Roger Ledoux clinched the title. In Touring, Damon Sharpe finished in top spot both days but it was Michel Sallenbach who claimed the 2014 championship. And in B-Spec, Normand Boyer had a perfect weekend, winning both races and earning championship honours.

Horst Seehofer, Minister President for Bavaria, visited Audi at the opening of Audi Neuburg.

Audi Neuburg opened in an official ceremony

Audi Sport will have a new home in the future. Some 20 kilometers west of Ingolstadt, a new facility has been completed a little less than two years following the groundbreaking ceremony. On Saturday, Audi Neuburg was opened in an official ceremony attended by the Bavarian Minister President Horst Seehofer and representatives of the local political community, as well as the members of the Audi board of management. The three race cars, Audi R18 e-tron quattro, Audi RS 5 DTM and Audi R8 LMS ultra, did some initial demo laps on the handling course. Previously, in May, the Audi driving experience launched customer operations on the 47-hectare grounds in Neuburg-Heinrichsheim. Audi Sport will be moving from Ingolstadt to the new facility before the year is out and in the first half of 2015, Audi Sport customer racing’s move to Neuburg will follow to complete the new Motorsport Competence Center.

Volkswagen junior van der Linde returns to the top of the table

Kelvin van der Linde (ZA) has regained the lead in the overall standings after the sixth race weekend of the ADAC GT Masters at the Nürburgring (D). The Volkswagen junior, overall winner of the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup in 2013, finished in sixth place alongside his team-mate René Rast (D) in the Audi R8 LMS ultra in the first race on Saturday; in the second race on Sunday afternoon, the 18-year-old finished in second place after an eventful race with plenty of overtaking manoeuvres. Van der Linde/Rast have 155 points to their name, with two events left to go. They are followed by Jaap van Lagen (NL) with 152 points, the former front runners Claudia Hürtgen/Dominik Baumann (D/D) are in third place with 136 points. The next two races in the ADAC GT Masters will take place between 19 and 21 September at the Sachsenring.

Nothing is sweeter than a victory in front of your own fans is something that Krzysztof Holowczyc from Poland will certainly confirm after winning his home event, the 2014 Baja Poland of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies, in the MINI ALL4 Racing entered by the X-raid Team. Alongside his new co-driver Xavier Panseri (FR), “Holek” as Holowczyc is called by his fans convincingly won two out of four stages and sealed his win early after the fifth stage of the event had to be cancelled due to unsafe road conditions after heavy rainfalls. Meanwhile, Martin Kaczmarski/Tapio Suominen (PL/FI) in the second MINI ALL4 Racing finished third making the Baja Poland another successful World Cup event for the X-raid Team and the MINI brand alike.

A tough lesson learned a year ago has helped drive Tim Sanderson to the brink of a championship this season.

Sanderson, from Pickering, Ontario, leads the Gold Cup class in the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin entering the last two rounds of the season Aug. 30-31 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario. Series veteran Sanderson holds a two-point lead, 140-138, over rookie Jerimy Daniel in the class for 2010-13 model Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars.
