Brilliant Bird Keeps Buemi At Bay

Sam Bird produced a brilliant performance to hold off the charge of Sebastien Buemi and claim the first Formula E win for the DS Virgin alliance.

Bird started the race from pole and controlled the pack from the front, just using enough energy to keep Nico Prost (Renault e.dams) and then Team Aguriís Antonio Felix da Costa at bay. While the Brit was untroubled at the front, from the back of the grid Buemi was giving his all to try to work his way up the order.

The Renault e.dams driver pulled off an audacious four-wide move on the opening lap to ensure he vaulted from 18th to 15th in one fell swoop. From there on he meticulously carved his way through the pack, picking off his rivals one by one, so that he was into fifth place when the unfortunate da Costaís car ground to a halt.

Buemi's Electrifying Recovery In Buenos Aires

Renault e.dams and Sebastien Buemi claimed their third podium finish of the season at this weekendís Buenos Aires ePrix (February 6), the fourth round of the 2015/16 FIA Formula E Championship, cementing their position as leaders in both the Teamsí and Driversí standings.

Saturday got off to a great start for the Renault e.dams squad with Sebastien finishing quickest in FP2 and his team-mate, Nico Prost, just behind him in third. Both drivers competed in the second qualifying group in which Nico did enough on his flying lap to take part in the Super Pole. But a error from Sebastien at Turn 7 put his Renault Z.E.15 into a spin, which saw him start from the back of the grid. Nico, meanwhile, lined up second on the grid for the 35-lap contest.

Formula E Buenos Aires Preview

The last FIA Formula E race in Punta del Este, where Sebastien Buemi and Renault e.dams stormed to their second victory of the 2015/16 season, seems a long time ago now. In preparation for Round 4, we caught up with our Renault Sport Project Leader, Vincent Gaillardot, to learn more about energy management ahead of the Buenos Aires ePrix.

Energy management is everywhere these days, isnít it?

"As technology has advanced, electric and hybrid vehicles have become really important. And this has transcended into many different motorsport categories; Formula 1, the World Endurance Championship and, of course, Formula E. As a result, energy management has become a vitally important skill for both teams and drivers racing today."

Auto GP Formula Open 2016

Auto GP is renewed and adapted to the needs of the market, giving life to the edition 2016 of '' Auto GP Formula Open ". The series organized by Enzo Coloni confirmed in track its powerful single-seater Lola chassis-based and driven by a V8 engine from 550 hp, organizing a league in Italy articulated in 6 events with double race. But it widens the possibility of participation in all the single-seater cars from 2 to 4 liters, in practice from F3 to F1, also including GP2, World Series, F.3000, GP3 and Formula Masters. With this initiative the promoters intend to pursue two goals: to integrate the grids for Auto GP, which fell in the last period, and allow a large number of owners of powerful cars do not hold them in the garage, but to use them on track to extremely low costs. Obviously, given the different types of cars on the track, in addition to the general classification will be drawn even different rankings for the class.
