NASCAR Cup Series Champion to Receive Bill France Cup Beginning in 2020


To honor the legacy of the sport’s founding family, NASCAR today announced that the Bill France Cup will be awarded to the champion of the NASCAR Cup Series, beginning in 2020.

The renamed trophy pays tribute to Bill France Sr., who founded NASCAR in 1947, as well as his son, Bill France Jr., who elevated the sport to a national phenomenon as the sanctioning body’s chief executive from 1972 to 2003.

Verizon Puts NASCAR on the Fast Track


Ahead of the iconic DAYTONA 500, NASCAR and Verizon announced today a multi-year partnership to modernize 12 NASCAR-owned racetracks and bring race fans, drivers and teams improved connectivity to enhance the at-track experience. The partnership designates Verizon as the Official Wireless Telecommunications and 5G Mobility Partner of NASCAR, as well as the Official At-Track Wi-Fi Partner of 12 NASCAR-owned racetracks. As part of this agreement, Verizon will work with NASCAR to upgrade its in-venue wireless communications service, starting with delivering improved Wi-Fi service in 12 racetracks, over the next three years.

Speedco Partners with Front Row Motorsports, Becomes Primary Sponsor on Gilliland No. 38 Truck


Front Row Motorsports (FRM) announced today that Speedco, a member of the Love's Family of Companies, will partner with Todd Gilliland for eight races throughout the 2020 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series season. Speedco's distinguishable blue and yellow colors will make their debut on the sides of Gilliland's No. 38 Ford F-150 at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway.

Speedco is a national network of 53 service locations that provides oil changes, preventive maintenance, inspection services and tire offerings for drivers in the professional trucking industry. Since their inception to the Love's Family of Companies in 2017, Speedco has been an integral part of FRM's NASCAR program, and they continue to grow that relationship as they venture into the Truck Series with Gilliland this season.

Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) and the United States Air Force will once again join forces for the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) season. For the 12th consecutive season, the U.S. Air Force Recruiting Service, charged with the mission to inspire, engage and recruit future Airmen, will continue the partnership with the No. 43 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE driven by Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Jr. in the NASCAR Cup Series.

The U.S. Air Force's involvement in NASCAR and its partnership with Richard Petty Motorsports allows the U.S. Air Force Recruiting Service to meet its mission to inspire the nation's brightest, most competitive young men and women for service. As part of the partnership, the U.S. Air Force will also continue its U.S. Air Force Academy summer internship for Cadets to apply their developing knowledge of engineering, business, and leadership in a live lab setting as well as the fast-paced and demanding at-track environment of NASCAR.

Roush To Pay Tribute To Personal Hero Larry Hicks At Michigan


On the afternoon of April 19, 2002, NASCAR Hall of Fame team owner Jack Roush was celebrating his 60th birthday with friends, flying airplanes from a small air strip in south Alabama. Roush’s celebration ended in near tragedy when the small plane he was piloting stuck a power line and went down in lake outside Troy, Alabama. Former United States Marine Larry Hicks was sitting nearby, recovering from a recent bout with cancer and taking in the warm Friday afternoon on his porch. From there Hollywood could not have sculpted a more dramatic moment of fate.
