Post-Game Quotes: New York 1, LA Galaxy 1

New York Red Bulls Head Coach Jesse Marsch

On going up against a short-handed LA team:
"I mean when you say short handed it's maybe just missing Robbie Keane and obviously that's a big piece, but that's still a very good LA team on the field and for me I thought that we controlled the game from the opening whistle and for 90 minutes we were on top of the match. Getting the early goal for them really changed the match a little bit and meant that we were pushing and they were sitting back but overall I thought that the little tactical details for what we needed to do to be on top of the match were good. The guys pushed and pushed to get the equalizer and we were a little bit unlucky not to find the lead. So overall I would give it a positive performance."

Week Eight Welcomes Cascadia Cup, New Chapter Of New York-LA Rivalry

New York City FC and the Chicago Fire open Viernes de Futbol’s first doubleheader of the season at 8 p.m. ET (UDN) at Toyota Park. NYCFC hits the road on the heels of a tough stretch that included three games in eight days. The week took an unfortunate turn for the expansion club, which saw starters David Villa, Mix Diskerud, Jason Hernandez and Josh Williams sidelined by injuries. While NYCFC trudges through a five-game winless streak, Shaun Maloney and the Fire are trending up. The club responded to a 0-3 start with wins over Toronto FC and Philadelphia Union in their last two fixtures. Chicago carries momentum and fresh legs after nearly two weeks off , but NYCFC—despite its injury issues—is yet to lose a match by more than one goal.

Quote Sheet: Red Bulls 2, San Jose 0

Opening thoughts on today's match:
"It's been a good start. We've concentrated on staying focused and not being satisfied, and tonight we came out, and from the start created chances and got a 2-0 lead and made sure that we weren't going to give it away. We required Luis [Robles] to make a couple saves in the end, he did his job, and I think a lot of guys had good nights and I think it's good to keep looking forward. We're not looking back."
