US Women's National Team Falls To Japan 1-0, Will Play Sweden For Third Place At 2012 Algarve Cup
In a match short on attacking chances for both sides, the U.S. Women's National Team fell to Japan 1-0 in the first meeting between the two countries since the historic 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup Final last summer in Germany.
Japanese substitute Megumi Takase headed home Aya Miyama's corner kick service in the 84th minute and the USA's furious push for the equalizer did not come to fruition.

The 99th edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup had its share of first-round surprises and tightly contested matches as the 2012 tournament kicked off Tuesday with 16 games across the country. The U.S. Adult Soccer Association regional qualifying teams made their voice heard with four winning squads out of nine entries.

Klinsmann Announces First 16 Players To Report To Training Camp In Orlando
U.S. Men's National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has named an initial squad of 16 players that will begin reporting today to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. The group consists largely of foreign-based players who have completed their seasons and are ready to prepare for the series of matches that culminates in the start of FIFA World Cup qualifying on June 8 against Antigua & Barbuda in Tampa, Fla.

Red Bulls Leap Into First Place With Thrilling 3-2 Win Over Union
Forward Kenny Cooper’s ninth goal of the season in the 78th minute helped overcome a 2-1 deficit and gave New York a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Union at PPL Park, lifting the streaking Red Bulls (7-3-1, 22 pts.) into first place in the Eastern Conference. It was the first time since April–May 2003 that New York has notched four consecutive victories. Midfielder Joel Lindpere and defender Markus Holgersson also found the back of the net for the Red Bulls, who are now one point ahead of second place Sporting Kansas City (7-3-0, 21 pts.).
