Magee returns with DR Racing Kart UK

This weekend’s (31 July/1 August) Kart Masters race sees Rotax Max front-runner Alex Magee make a welcome return to competition after budget issues forced him onto the sidelines.

For the event, Alex – who has just attracted the support of Lexus Coventry, London Road - has been chosen to spearhead DR Racing Kart UK’s challenge to lift one of the most prestigious titles in British karting.

"Kart Masters is one of the highlights of the season," explains Steve Green, Managing Director of DR Racing Kart UK. "Alex has raced at the top level and we hope that the form he has shown in series such as the British Super 1 Championship can translate into a good, solid performance over the weekend."

Being selected to compete in the DR Racing colours is an accolade and hints at Steve’s faith in Alex’s abilities. "Danilo Rossi is a five-time World Champion. In 2008 he launched his own brand of karts and so, for Alex to effectively compete under his name, is a big compliment. We hope that with his natural talent, and the undoubted quality of the material at his disposal, will both perform well and be rewarded with silverware on Sunday."

Tim Huxley, Centre Principal of Lexus Coventry says, "At Lexus Coventry we understand the importance of encouraging and supporting local talent and therefore we are excited to be supporting Alex at this formative stage of his bid to forge a career in top-flight motor racing. Everyone at Lexus Coventry is really looking forward to cheering him on and who knows, perhaps toasting his success on Sunday."

Alex is clearly looking forward to the challenge, "It is incredibly exciting to have two great brands come together to give me an opportunity at such an important event. Steve Green has asked me to go out there and demonstrate what a great bit of kit the DR Racing Kart is. It would be fantastic to give them and Lexus Coventry the best possible reward on Sunday for their partnership with me. I promise I will be giving it my all."

The event starts on Friday with free practice followed by timed qualifying. The preliminary heats will take place on Saturday with the all-important finals running on Sunday in front of Motors TV’s cameras.
