In a storybook finish in front of 140,000, Paul Menard and his No. 27 Nibco/Menards Chevrolet has won the 2011 Brickyard 400. The victory is Menard's first win in 167 NASCAR Sprint Cup races, and first at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It is also Mendard's fourth top-five in the 2011 season after having just two top-five finishes in the first seven years of his NASCAR Sprint Cup career.

"There's a lot of emotion right now, " said Menard. "We've been trying to win this race since I was a youngster. The team kept telling me where Jeff was, but we were able to hold him off in clean air."

Jeff Gordon and his No 24 would finish second after picking up 12 seconds with 12 laps to go. Gordon charged hard as car after car entered pitlane short on fuel to complete the 160 laps.

Gordon said, "It sure was nice to run that good. We tried to push the kid all the way to the end."

Finishing third was Regan Smith and his No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet which was his fourth top-five finish of 2011 after having no top-10 finishes in his career coming into this season.

Jamie McMurray finished fourth after nearly successfully defending his 2010 Brickyard 400 win. Matt Kenseth and his No 17 picked up the final position in the top-five.

Next up for the NASCAR Sprint Cup series will be Pocono next weekend.
