Townley Falls Victim To Early-Race Accident At Kentucky Speedway
John Wes Townley and RAB Racing had their night cut short Thursday night after a single-truck accident in the early laps of Kentucky Speedway's UNOH 225 ended the team's hope for a high finishing position prematurely.

Making the trip to the Bluegrass State for the Thursday-night show, the No. 09 team's day began with Townley recording the 24th and 22nd-fastest times, respectively, in the dual Camping World Truck Series practice sessions. Maintaining that speed in qualifying, Townley circled the 1.5-mile tri-oval 22nd-fastest.
Proof of RAB Racing's hard work on the No. 09 Toyota Tundra throughout the off weeks was found when Townley jumped up five positions within the first 10 laps of the UNOH 225. But single-truck spins plagued the night for the Camping World Truck Series field and, unfortunately, Townley was not immune to this. On Lap 16, Townley got loose going in to Turn 3 and made contact with the outside wall. Thankfully, Townley was uninjured and was treated and released from the infield care center. Unfortunately, the No. 09 Toyota Tundra wasn't so lucky. The damage sustained in the early-race accident was terminal and the team's night ended prematurely, relegating them to a 32nd-place finishing position.
"Obviously tonight was not what we were looking for," said Townley. "We struggled with our Toyota Tundra being loose all day in practice, and it stepped out from under me tonight in the race. I hate it for all the guys at RAB Racing that worked so hard to get this truck turned around after Texas. I'm disappointed, for sure, but we'll be back at Iowa."
The next stop for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be Iowa Speedway on Saturday, July 14, 2012.
