2012 Formula One (F1) Drivers Points Standings - After Hungary
By Mike Sulka
Formula One (F1) driver Fernando Alonso finished fifth in the 2012 Hungary Grand Prix in his Ferrari but was still able to increase his lead in the 2012 Formula One drivers points standings over Red Bull driver Mark Webber by a whopping 40 points.
Also within range of the title fight is Sebastian Vettel and his No. 1 Red Bull Racing-Renault who moved up 2 points to within 42 points of Alonso with a fourth place finish.
Red Bull will have to be careful which driver they should back regarding the world championship as the wrong call at the wrong time could be costly. But it also appears that they will soon have to make a choice if they are to catch Alonso at all.
Kimi Raikkonen has dropped back behind 2008 Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton to fifth in the drivers points after Hamilton (McLaren) won at Hungary. Hamilton is 47 points behind Alonso - nearly two full Grand Prix - nine races to go.
Next up for the 2012 Formula One (F1) series is the Belgium Grand Prix (GP) after the summer break.
