Brendan Gaughan Earns Fourth-Place Finish in Front of Hometown Crowd

Brendan Gaughan and the No. 2 South Point Hotel & Casino team finished fourth under the lights at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the Smith's 350 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race. Gaughan started the 146-lap event from the sixth position and reported a tight-handling condition during the initial run, dropping to 10th in the running order. Crew chief Gere Kennon called the Las Vegas native to pit road under caution on lap 32 for four tires, fuel and a round of chassis adjustments. With other teams opting for two tires, Gaughan was scored in the 18th position for the ensuing restart. The No. 2 Chevrolet team continued to battle a tight-handling condition for the next 50 circuits around the 1.5-mile track. Kennon called Gaughan back to pit road on lap 101 during a caution period for four tires, fuel and additional chassis adjustments. Gaughan restarted 16th with 40 laps remaining in the event. Climbing as high as the third position in the closing laps, the 37-year-old driver slipped one spot to take the checkered flag in the fourth place.

BRENDAN GAUGHAN QUOTE:
"The No. 2 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet team worked really hard tonight to get the truck where it needed to be at the end of the race. We were fast there at the end but didn't have enough laps to get the job done. I love racing here at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and for Richard Childress Racing. I can't thank the guys and Gere Kennon (crew chief) enough for the great truck this weekend."

Pit Road Incident Regulates Ty Dillon to a 10th-Place Result in Sin City

Ty Dillon and the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops team finished 10th after suffering damage from a pit road incident during the Smith's 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Dillon started the 146-lap affair from the fifth position and led five laps despite battling a tight-handling condition as the Marcus Richmond-led team coped with changing track positions at the Las Vegas-based facility. Dillon was running in the eighth position when he pitted under caution on lap 101 for adjustments to alleviate the handling issues he was experiencing but made contact with another competitor on pit road after exiting his pit stall and sustained left-front fender damage. The contact ultimately resulting in a flat left-front tire and forced the team to make a second pit stop before green-flag racing resumed. Dillon restarted in the 16th position on lap 106 but experienced steering issues for the remainder of the race as a result of suspension damage that occurred during his pit road incident. The Welcome, N.C.-based driver ultimately finished 10th. With the top-10 result, Dillon continues to lead the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver championship point standings by one point.

Start - 5 Finish - 10 Laps Led - 5 Points - 1

TY DILLON QUOTE:
"It was a tough night for the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops team. We definitely had a truck that could have contended for the win, but we had that incident on pit road that we couldn't battle back from. I'm really proud of Marcus Richmond (crew chief) and the team. They never gave up tonight. That's what a championship team is all about."

Coulter Earns Fifth Top-Five Finish of the 2012 Season

Joey Coulter and the No.22 Richard Childress Racing team earned their third pole award of the season and finished third after dominating the Smith's 350 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The 2011 Camping World Truck Series Rookie of the Year led 40 laps of the 146-lap race. Pit strategy proved to be the race's deciding factor as crew chief Harold Holly called for four Goodyear tires on the team's final stop. With other teams opting to change two tires, the 22-year-old driver restarted from the seventh position and had to work his way through the field during the course of the remaining 20 laps. The Miami Springs, Fla., native took the checkered flag in the third position, gaining one spot, to fourth, in the Camping World Truck Series driver championship point standings.

Start - 1 Finish - 3 Laps Led - 40 Points - 4

JOEY COULTER QUOTE:
"I just can't say enough about the No. 22 team as a whole. They worked so hard to put together this Silverado and I thought we had the truck to win this evening. It was a good points night for us and we are looking on to Talladega (Superspeedway)."
