For the occasion, Gwaltney ran a "Race with Royalty" sweepstakes (www.gwaltneyfoods.com/racewithroyalty) at select Alabama and Georgia retailers from July 2012 through August 2012. Two lucky Grand Prize winners will each receive a prize package consisting of one pair of grandstand tickets for the October 7 stock car race in Talladega, one pair of cold passes for access to the pit and garage area prior to the race, a limousine ride to and from the racetrack, and lunch with members of the Richard Petty Motorsports race team.
Eight Secondary Prize winners will each receive a prize package consisting of one pair of grandstand tickets for the October 7 stock car race in Talladega, and one pair of cold passes for access to the pit and garage area prior to the race.
"Gwaltney is a trusted family brand with over 140 year history of producing the quality meat products at a popular price point," said Will Brunt, Vice President of Marketing at Smithfield Packing. "Gwaltney proudly boasts America's number-one rated chicken frank and bologna, and we're excited to be running our prize sweepstakes in conjunction with the Talladega race, as many of our customers are stock-car racing fans."
"Have you heard about this bacon shortage everyone is talking about? Luckily I'm all stocked up with my No. 43 Gwaltney Bacon car I'll be running at Talladega," said Aric Almirola, driver of the No. 43 Ford for Richard Petty Motorsports. "Gwaltney is making sure that all my racing - and bacon - needs are covered!"
