Lionel To Sponsor Trevor Bayne's Dirt Car At Charlotte

How does a sponsor make their race car look extra cool? By letting a Daytona 500 champion help with the design.

When Lionel decided to sponsor the car Trevor Bayne will race during the Circle K Late Model Showdown at Charlotte on October 10, Bayne asked if he could design the paint scheme himself.

“This year, I’ve had a great partnership with Lionel as a spokesman for their Action Racing Collectables die-cast brand,” Bayne said “And when Lionel told me they wanted to sponsor me in the dirt race at Charlotte, I decided to get creative and design a really cool 20th Anniversary car for them.”

So, colored pencils in hand, Bayne went to work sketching out his ideas for the car and working with the company’s production staff to be sure the design was just right.

“Trevor really stepped up and made what we think is a great-looking car,” said Howard Hitchcock, Vice President of Lionel, LLC. “The placement of Action’s 20th Anniversary logo and our other branding elements work really well. This design will definitely stand out both on track and as an ARC die-cast.”

This year, Action Racing Collectables (ARC), the popular die-cast brand owned by Lionel, celebrates its 20th year of producing die-cast race cars. In July of 1992, Action began marketing its first die-cast product. Since then, the brand has become part and parcel of the racing world.

Said Hitchcock, “We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Action Racing Collectables than by having a Daytona 500 champ drive a car for us.”

Though Bayne’s Action Racing Collectables Late Model Ford won’t hit the track until October 10, Lionel is currently taking pre-orders for the die-cast of this one-time-only Bayne ride. ARC die-cast of this Ford Late Model is available in 1:24 scale and designed to match the car Bayne will race at Charlotte.

To continue the 20-year celebration of Action Racing Collectables (ARC), all 1:24 scale ARC die-cast produced between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013 will have a special 20th Anniversary Tampo-printed bottom stamp and ship with anniversary packaging.
