NASCAR Number: 5, 2 (Oct. 5, 2012)
By Reid Spencer NASCAR Wire Service
5: The number of current Chase drivers who have notched multiple NASCAR Sprint Cup victories in the last 25 races at Talladega Superspeedway. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon have won five times each in that span. Jimmie Johnson, current points leader Brad Keselowski and Clint Bowyer all have a pair of wins at the 2.66-mile restrictor-plate track.
2: The number of current Chase drivers with one victory in the last 25 races at Talladega. Tony Stewart won the controversial fall race in 2008, when the driver who was first to the finish line, Regan Smith, was demoted for passing below the yellow boundary line between the apron and the racing surface on the final lap. Kevin Harvick was the winner in the spring race of 2010. Five Chase drivers have never conquered Talladega: Matt Kenseth, Greg Biffle, Kasey Kahne, Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr.
