2012 Talladega: RAM NASCAR Truck Qualifying Quotes
Ryan Blaney (No. 29 Draw-Tite RAM) Qualified 19th THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME RACING AT TALLADEGA. HOW WAS YOUR RAM TODAY IN PRACTICE AND QUALIFYING? "This place is really cool. We didn’t have a lot of speed in the truck but I kind of new that coming down here. Our Draw-Tite RAM will draft pretty well and that’s a good thing. We did some drafting in practice and the truck felt really stable. It’s just a matter of what driver will want to go with you at what time tomorrow in the race. Talladega is a very cool place that’s for sure. Hopefully we can bring it home in one piece and get a good finish."

TALK ABOUT THE PHENOMENON OF DRAFTING HERE AT TALLADEGA FOR THE FIRST TIME: "It’s really amazing. I’m learning all the aero stuff that comes into play here as fast as I can. The truck drafts well. I think I’m learning as much as I can. The real learning session comes during the race. I’m really looking forward in getting out there with a pack of trucks and see how it reacts."
HAVE YOU PRACTICED TANDEM DRAFTING? DO YOU ANTICIPATE MUCH TWO-TRUCK DRAFTING TOMORROW? "I don’t think that we’ll see much tandem racing tomorrow. There were some guys in a tandem for a lap or so in practice but that was about it. They lasted about a lap before the tandem broke apart; it was interesting to watch. With the small grill opening I don’t think you’ll see a bunch of tandem racing, maybe near the end of the race."
HAVE YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO TALK TO YOUR DAD (DAVE) OR BRAD (KESELOWSKI) MUCH ABOUT RACING IN A DRAFT HERE? "A little bit. The advice is that you just have to be patient. It’s a long race and a lot of things are going to happen. It’s a lot of riding around. I’ll have to be patient and think about how I can use the draft to my advantage. You just have to be in position at the end of the race to have a shot of doing something to try an put our Draw-Tite RAM in victory lane."
