Ryan Wilson And Team Cash Out In Caraway Season Finale With Another Win

Even though the Mid-Atlantic Shootout at Caraway (N.C.) Speedway was postponed for a week because of inclement weather, that was perfectly fine by Ryan Wilson and his Ryan Wilson Motorsports (RWM) team as they picked up a huge win this past Saturday night.

The victory was the team’s third of the year at the 0.455-mile oval.

Wilson, the 20 year old driver of the No. 12 Southern Pharmacy Services / Randolph Bank Toyota Camry was confident in his team's abilities for the season-finale race at the Sophia, North Carolina-based race track as a strong practice mounted fast lap times by the RWM team led by veteran crew chief Kirk Bryant.

“I felt pretty good about the race based on our performance during practice,” said Wilson, the 2010 fall winner of Richard Petty Driver Search II. “We really didn’t have to tweak the car that much all day and fortunately for us, it all panned out.”

In fact, it was a flawless weekend for the nearby Thomasville, North Carolina-based team. On top of another triumph, the team also notched their fourth pole of the season. During the standard redraw procedure, the Randleman, North Carolina native drew the same position he qualified thus spelling out bad news for the rest of the competition.

During the 75-lap shootout, Wilson’s No. 12 Southern Pharmacy Services / Randolph Bank Toyota Camry showed control, strength and stability as he was able to command the final race of the season and soar his team back into victory circle. Wilson lost the lead and fell back to second around lap 65 as a lap car got in the way for several laps. With 5 to go, a caution would bunch the field up, and Wilson would elect to take the outside of the restart cone. On the restart, Wilson took the lead again and never looked back.

“It’s a huge win,” Wilson explained. “This year, even though we didn’t win the overall championship was our strongest season to date for our team. We set out and accomplished what we planned to do earlier this year. We focused on doing what it takes to win races. We did that three times so far this year, it feels pretty good.

There are a lot of people to thank. Without the help of Southern Pharmacy Services, Randolph Bank, my family, friends and fans – none of this would be possible. We have another pretty big race coming up in a couple weeks at Martinsville Speedway, this should give us an extra boost to go there and do well. We tested really well there last week, so I’m excited for the race.”

Next up for the RWM gang is a stop at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway for the annual running of the prestigious Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 set for Sunday, October 21.
