Carter 2 Motorsports Hoping The 'Magic Mile' Brings Them Luck

While the off weekends have provided some much needed downtime for Carter 2 Motorsports, C2M, the team is ready to finish up the season on a high note. After getting rained out on Labor Day Weekend, the team rolls into the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds for a second time this year, but all signs point to a successful Southern Illinois 100 presented by Federated Car Care, weather included.

Dominick Casola, driving the No. 40 will be making his third start with the team. The New Jersey native has some experience on the dirt as he recently competed at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in August. He also competed in both ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards dirt races back in 2007, as well as two all star truck races in 2005. Despite some dirt experience the 25-year-old doesn’t consider himself an expert.

“This will be my sixth ever dirt event so I’m still very new to dirt, but I really love the type of racing it provides,” said Casola. “The dirt is like a throwback to the old days of racing where driver talent was more important than a big budget, and it’s just a lot of fun driving an ARCA car on dirt. We should have been top 10 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, so I’m ready for some redemption.”

Casola’s teammate for this weekend is newcomer to the ARCA series Buck Stevens. The Statesville, NC native will take the wheel of the No. 04 Dodge making his first-ever ARCA start, but he is no stranger to racing. He started in 2003 in the Mini Stock Class at East Lincoln Motor Speedway, a popular dirt track on the series where he accumulated four wins. Steven’s currently races Modified Class cars at local tracks on the series.

The second dirt race of the ARCA season is a welcomed return for C2M as their best finish of the season came at the previous dirt race with a 13th place finish. The one-day show will begin with practice at 10 a.m., with Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell following at noon. The 100-lap, 100-mile race will take place at 2 p.m. CT .
