A star studded line-up is set to land at the Gold Coast when top international drivers team up with Australia's V8 Supercars' stars at the Armor all Gold Coast 600 this week.

Suiting up to co-drive in the last endurance race of the year, some of the biggest names in IndyCar, NASCAR and Formula One will take the drivers' seats in Australian V8 Supercars - some for the very first time.

Big name drivers like motor racing royalty Marco Andretti, World Champ Car successor Sebastien Bourdais, IndyCar's James Hinchliffe and Great Britain's Darren Turner are set to tackle the world class street circuit in just over a weeks' time.

Off the back of his fourth Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 win, Jamie Whincup has teamed up with four time World Champ Car victor, Bourdais and the number one pair are the favourites to take out the Gold Coast title they won last year.

"We are looking good heading in to the Gold Coast 600 which is always a very difficult and unpredictable track. The team is on a high after the Bathurst win. Sebastien is in good form, he has had experience on the track, which is a great advantage. So all in all, we are fairly confident," said Whincup.

If TeamVodafone take out the number one spot at the Armor All Gold Coast 600, it will mean a clean sweep for the endurance season.

"It really boosts morale, the team is keen to take home another endurance title, and if we do it at the Gold Coast we would have won every race in this year's Season of Endurance."

New comer, James Hinchcliffe will make his Surfers Paradise debut co-droving with Michael Caruso in the number 33 Fujitsu Racing car. The IndyCar driver said he was keen to get behind the wheel of a 'tin-top'.

"For me it's a dream come true, I mean, I have always wanted to get behind one of those cars. It's (a V8 Supercar) very different from the sports car driving I have done in the past, so it's going to be a big learning curve," said Hinchcliffe.

Other drivers include, Aussie expat Will Power, France's Stephane Sarrazin, Marc Lieb from Germany, Scotland's Peter Dumbreck and more from around the globe, setting down on the Gold Coast over the next week.

V8 Supercars CEO David Malone said the international drivers were drawing crowds from around Australia and the world, with corporate and general ticket sales extremely strong.

"It's Queensland's premier sporting event, it's about combining world class racing on track and all the glitz and glamour off track. This year corporate and general ticket sales are up from this time last year, so we are anticipating bigger crowds than 2011," said Mr Malone.

"It's great to see ticket sales up, it's the event that is all about the party and it's great to see international bands, drivers and visitors coming to experience it all at Australia's tourism capital.

"This event is all about entertainment, you have some of the world's best drivers tearing it up on the streets of Surfers Paradise and then you have top artists like Good Charlotte, The Living End and 360 rocking out at night."

Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games, Jann Stuckey, welcomed the event's international drivers to Queensland's Gold Coast.

"It is with great pride we welcome such an impressive line-up of international drivers to Queensland, joining Australian V8 Supercar stars including Queenslander, Will Power, over three days of motorsport entertainment," said Ms Stuckey.

"The Newman Government is committed to supporting events which provide significant social and economic benefits to the host region - helping to achieve our goal to double overnight visitor expenditure to $30 billion by 2020."

The ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600 is the Gold Coast's biggest party, race by day and rock all night at the 600 sounds stage with bands Good Charlotte, The Living End, 360 and more.

Kids can get in on all the on and off track action with a jam packed Dreamworld Family Zone, which features the Disney Pixar's Car Truck Tour with Mack the Transporter and the famous Lightning McQueen, visits from sporting heroes from the Titans and the Sun's, jumping castle, stunt shows and more.

Party to the finish at the ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600, October 19 - 21. Kids 12 and under receive free general admission with a paying adult.
