ESR & Brandon Jones Race Report -- Another Top-10 Finish In UARA Competition For Jones At Tri-County

Brandon Jones brought home another top-10 finish in the United Auto Racing Association (UARA) STARS Series this weekend at Tri-County (N.C.) Motor Speedway. The driver of the No. 33 Chevrolet for Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR) picked up 13 positions throughout the 150-lap event to cross the finish line in the eighth position.

Jones returned to Tri-County Motor Speedway for his second UARA-STARS Series race at the 4/10-mile speedway. The young driver recorded the 25th- and 11th-quickest practice laps during Saturday morning's two practice sessions, but knew that his car handled well enough to race through the field. With a 16.753-second qualifying lap, Jones secured the 21st starting position for the Alpha Energy Solutions 150.

Two early cautions kept the field tight on the 4/10-mile speedway and allowed Jones to carefully navigate traffic gaining positions early in the race. As the field settled into a long green-flag run, Jones was racing around the 15th position. With the competition spread out, Jones calmly hit his marks and saved his tires until the other cars were close enough to pass.

A couple quick cautions in the closing laps tightened up the field, and Jones had solid restarts each time enabling him to pick up additional positions on the track. By the time the checkered flag waved in the Alpha Energy Solutions 150, Jones was scored in the eighth position.

"I'm really proud my No. 33 ESR team and how much we've improved throughout the season," commented Jones. "We've gained a lot of ground knowing what we need in our set-ups and having our cars right from the time we unload at the track. We're steadily racing for top-five and top-10 finishes and we're having a lot of fun every week. Our team has a couple big races coming up with the late model race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway next week, my K&N Pro Series East debut at Greenville (S.C.) Pickens Speedway, and finally the UARA season finale at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway on Nov. 3. I'm confident that we'll have great cars each week and some strong finishes to close out the year."

Jones will attempt to make the field for the "Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300" at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway next Sunday, October 21. As one of the biggest late model events in the southeast, over 60 cars are already entered in the annual event. Fan gates open at 9 a.m. ET on Saturday and Sunday. Practice will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon with qualifying practice to follow at 4 p.m. A driver autograph session will take place on the front stretch on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m., with four 25-lap heat races and one 50-lap last-chance race beginning at 12 p.m. ET. Tickets for the race are just $25, and admission for children 12 and under is free. ESR's Cale Gale, a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regular and veteran late model driver, will call the shots as Jones' crew chief for the prestigious event.
