Andy Scott Eyes British Rallycross Grand Prix Glory

Andy Scott is revved-up for his final battle of the 2012 season at the MSA British Rallycross Grand Prix at Croft, where the flying Scot will be aiming for all-out glory aboard his Ford Focus ST T16 multiple FIA European Rallycross Championship heat-winning powerhouse.

Contesting the British flagship event for only the second time, the Scott Trawlers-backed Dumfries driver returns to North Yorkshire with firm intentions of emulating his 2011 debut MSA British Rallycross Grand Prix third place podium form to seal his season in style.

In the action packed two-day extravaganza on 27&28 October, Scott will also join the final round of the 2012 MSA British Rallycross Championship – an event he won outright last year on his way to sealing his Vice Champion status.

Scott heads south of the Scottish border boasting an impressive track record of 10 heat race wins amassed during his packed race schedule across the Global Rallycross Championship, the FIA European Rallycross Championship (ERC) and Rallycross de Loheac.

His awesome triple round heat wins in the ERC Lydden Hill event in April, along with a seventh place scored in his iconic Peugeot 306 during the opening British round at the Kent circuit, counted towards series standing. Consequently, Scott lies 10th in the title fight despite contesting only two of seven events.

With solid development progress made by the Tony Bardy Motorsport team throughout recent ERC fixtures, the 550bhp Ford Focus is sure to be one of the Grand Prix pace setters in Scott’s capable hands, amid a field boasting the best of British and top European rallycross stars.

Speaking of which, with Rallycross prowess clearly running in the family, son Marc Scott will also be lining up on the Croft grid with full intentions of taking the MSA British Rallycross Championship RX150 title.

Andy Scott commented: “I’m really looking forward to contesting the MSA British Rallycross Grand Prix for the second time. It’s a great event, certainly the best race in the UK last year, and this year’s entry list promises a repeat performance.

“The Tony Bardy Motorsport-prepared Ford Focus is running strong and, with the valuable recent development work we’ve undertaken during our select FIA European Rallycross campaign, I expect to be at the front of the battle despite the strong level of competition.

“I’ve notched up some decent results this season, but we haven’t yet been able to show our true potential, so I’m hoping that our efforts will be justifiably rewarded at Croft to end the year on a high.”

Racing for the first time at Croft this year, Scott will get re-acquainted with the 1400 metre course in official practice at 9am on Saturday, October 27, before battling it out in the final round of the MSA British Rallycross Championship.

Sunday’s MSA British Rallycross Grand Prix action kicks off at 9am with practice once again preceding the qualifying heats, followed by what promises to be an enthralling Supercar season finale on Sunday afternoon.

Just a week prior the Star Radio-supported MSA British Rallycross Grand Prix, Andy Scott’s Peugeot 306 will be part of a static display staged on the High Street at Northallerton, during the afternoon on Sunday, October 21.
