NASCAR Number: 14 (Oct. 22, 2012)
By Reid Spencer, NASCAR Wire Service
14: What else? That’s the track-record number of cautions at repaved, reconfigured Kansas Speedway during Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400, the wildest NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of the season so far. Yes, Matt Kenseth won the race, but the real pyrotechnics took place behind him, as Kyle Busch and Ryan Newman tangled and Danica Patrick and Landon Cassill threw more fuel on their budding rivalry. Though the number of yellows was a record, the number of caution laps (66) was not. The inaugural race at the 1.5-mile track (Sept. 30, 2001) produced 13 cautions for a total of 70 laps.
