2012 NHRA: A Fresh Bullet For Shane Gray's Big O Tires Pontiac Sets The Stage For Improvement
With the first day of qualifying at the Big O Tires NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway behind them, Shane Gray and his Service Central-backed Gray Motorsports team are collectively regrouping with a new plan for the second day of the event.

Gray, of Denver, N.C., was 13th quickest in the first session of qualifying with a 6.708 at 204.35 mph. The Gray Motorsports team got right back to work as soon as they returned to their pit area and muscled on the motor in search of improvement in the second qualifier, but it was all for naught when ignition failure shut them down on the starting line with a loud pop and a sudden loss of power.
"It's frustrating," said Gray. "Mostly because we want to do well for our sponsors, Big O Tires and Service Central. We've already got a fresh engine in the GXP for tomorrow, and we're anxious to see what we can do with it. Tomorrow should be a better day."
Qualifying for the Big O Tires NHRA Nationals will continue with two sessions on Saturday, at 11 a.m. and 2 pm. Pacific Standard Time.
