Phil Giebler Racing Enters 15 Drivers In Prestigious Skusa Supernationals

Phil Giebler Racing has entered 15 drivers including Joel Miller, Carter Williams, Kiel Spaulding, Ethan Wilson and Nick Freytag in the 16th Superkarts! USA SuperNationals run on a temporary circuit at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino on Nov 16-18.

Miller of Hesperia, Calif., and Spaulding of Elk Grove, Calif., will be joined in TaG Senior by Mason Daughters of Polo, Mo., and Dakota Dickerson of San Diego. Miller, a 24-year-old who has driven in Star Mazda and Firestone Indy Lights, won the TaG Senior SuperNationals feature in 2007, was second in 2008 and third last season.

The 16-year-old Spaulding won in S5 Junior Stock Moto and was second in TaG Junior at the SuperNationals in 2009. He had one victory and finished third, fourth, fifth twice and sixth in Senior Rotax in the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas this season driving for Giebler.

“I’m very pleased to be running for PGR at the SuperNationals,” Spaulding said. “We had a great year with them and I’m looking to finish it off with a win at Las Vegas. We will have to focus on every aspect of the kart and my performance. We have a very good shot to win. The competition is high, but I can’t let that effect how I perform. This week will be a team effort from everyone under PGR to get the win.”

Daughters, 15, took his first victory in TaG Senior in SKUSA’s California ProKart Challenge Series at Buttonwillow, Calif., in June to highlight his first season in the class. Daughters, a Level 5 Motorsports development driver, was 17th in the TaG Junior feature at the SuperNationals last year.

Dickerson finished seventh in his debut with PGR in the SKUSA ProKart Challenge at Santa Maria, Calif., this season.

Carter Williams of Clovis, Calif., Noah Grey of Dana Point, Calif., Dallas Hollins of Fontana, Calif., and Marino Sato of Japan will drive for PGR in TaG Junior. Williams will also drive in S5 in the SuperNationals.

Williams won his second straight title in TaG Junior and his first in S5 in SKUSA’s California ProKart Challenge this season. He also won two IKF Grand National championships in 2012 in Junior Super Sportsman and IAME Cup Junior/Parilla Leopard. Williams also had two victories in TaG Junior at SKUSA’s Pro Tour SummerNationals and won S5 in the prestigious Lancaster (Calif.) Grand Prix.

“We have worked very hard over the last two months on both programs and feel that we have a very good shot at winning both classes,” Williams said. “I am really excited about racing because I have a chance to race against the world’s best drivers. I really like to thank Phil (Giebler) and Everett (Giebler) for all their support this year and I hope to bring them back a SuperNationals win.”

Grey is in his first season in TaG Junior, Hollins in her first season with Giebler and Sato will be in his first event with PGR in the SuperNationals. Grey was fourth in TaG Cadet in the 2010 SuperNationals and finished consistently in the top 10 including third at Willow Springs, Calif., in the SKUSA TaG Junior events this season. Hollins also had several top-10s.

Ethan Wilson of Campbell, Calif., Paul Grey of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Vatche Tatikian of North Hollywood, Calif., will drive in TaG Master for PGR in the SuperNationals.

Wilson was the SKUSA Pro Tour TaG Master champion in 2010 and was ninth in the class at the SuperNationals last year. He opened this season with a victory in SKUSA ProKart at Buttonwillow and was third at Willow Springs, but an injury sidelined him for much of the season. Wilson won in the Lancaster GP in his comeback race.

Grey has also had a solid season with podium finishes and Tatikian, in his second season in karting, has made tremendous strides and finished third at Lancaster.

Freytag of Paradise Valley, Ariz., finished ninth out of 40 starters in S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto, a shifter class, at the SuperNationals last season. He is racing in S1 Pro Stock Moto this season and scored his first victory in the SKUSA ProKart Challenge at Adams Motorsports Park in Riverside, Calif., in late May. Freytag had a strong season that included finishing third at Lancaster.

Conner Wagner of Dallas will drive in his first event with PGR in S2 at the SuperNationals.

PGR has entered Trenton Sparks of Bakersfield, Calif., and Valentina Sarmiento of Venezuela in the SuperNationals. Sparks finished second at Lancaster and third at Santa Maria in a SKUSA ProKart feature in his debut with PGR. Sarmiento made her debut with the team in the SKUSA Pro Tour SummerNationals at Toole, Utah and finished ninth and 11th in the features.

“We have a very strong team going to the SuperNationals and if we perform like we’re capable, we have a chance to win races and stand on podiums,” team owner Phil Giebler said. “But this is a world championship-caliber event and you need to bring your A game.”

Owned by the 2007 Indy 500 Rookie of the Year, Phil Giebler Racing is based in Orange, Calif., and competes nationally at the highest level of karting in the United States. Giebler is a resident of Huntington Beach, Calif. The team uses Fernando Alonso and Tony Karts.
