NASCAR Number: 10 (Nov. 29, 2012)
By Reid Spencer NASCAR Wire Service
10: The number of consecutive years Dale Earnhardt Jr. has won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series’ NMPA Most Popular Driver Award, matching a streak set by Bill Elliott from 1991 through 2000. Earnhardt, who accepted his 10th award at Thursday’s Myers Brothers luncheon in Las Vegas, must win six more such awards to match the record career-total 16 claimed by Elliott. In addition, Earnhardt may have some competition as he tries to extend his streak to 11 next year. Danica Patrick, most popular driver in the Nationwide Series this season, moves to full-time Cup racing in 2013.
