There are 71 days left before the Feb. 24, 2013 Daytona 500; hence, the number for today is:
71: The number of career laps in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series led by Penske Racing driver Sam Hornish Jr. In 129 Cup starts totaling 35,104 laps run, Hornish has been at the front of the field at five race tracks: Pocono (25 laps), Michigan (16), Daytona (14), Talladega (9) and Kansas (7). Hornish will compete full-time in the Nationwide Series in 2013 in addition to running a limited number of Cup races, as sponsorship permits.
