There are 67 days left before the Feb. 24, 2013, Daytona 500; hence, the number for today is:
67: The age of Richard Childress, who was winless in 285 starts as a driver but eminently successful as a car owner. Among Richard Childress Racing’s 101 wins are two victories in the Daytona 500: Dale Earnhardt’s breakthrough win in 1998 and Kevin Harvick’s .02-second triumph over Mark Martin in 2007. Childress and Earnhardt combined for six NASCAR Sprint Cup championships before Earnhardt lost his life as a result of injuries sustained in a last-lap crash in the 2001 Daytona 500.
