Following a month-long battle in Ford Racing’s “Tournament of Ovals” Facebook competition, Negri claimed the top honor when he went up against NASCAR star Marcos Ambrose - who will test for Michael Shank Racing in this weekend’s Roar Before the 24 - in the final round.

The fan-voted “Tournament of Ovals” competition saw Ford drivers across various motorsport disciplines featuring NASCAR, NHRA, Rally, Formula Drift, GRAND-AM, and V8 Supercars go head-to-head in a bracket-style tournament in which the drivers receiving the most fan votes would advance through to the next round.

Led by Michael Shank Racing “Super Fan” Vickie Miller, Shank supporters rallied around the popular Brazilian driver as Negri easily sailed through the preliminary rounds and into the Final. With votes coming in from around the world for the 2012 Rolex 24 Champion, Negri claimed victory in the final round in what was a very tight battle against the Aussie driver.

“This was a really good battle and I’m so honored to have had so much support. Ford is such an important part of Michael Shank Racing and it is amazing to win this and I really want to make sure I keep being a driver to watch this year!” said Negri with a smile. “I’m looking forward to the season and getting going at Daytona this weekend. It’s going to be fun to see Marcos, and I know he’s really going to enjoy working with Michael Shank, it is an amazing group and we have very high expectations for this year.”

Ambrose is set to test for Michael Shank Racing at the Roar Before the 24 this weekend as Negri continues to heal from an off-season training injury.
