Got Chocolate Milk Names Veach A Team REFUEL Finalist
The National Fluid Milk Processor Promotion Board, more commonly known as the marketers of the Got Milk? and Got Chocolate Milk? campaigns, announced today that Andretti Autosport Firestone Indy Lights driver Zach Veach has been named a finalist in the board’s search for Team Refuel candidates. Should Veach win the voting round, he would become a sponsored athlete of Team REFUEL for 2013 and the chance to appear in a national Got Chocolate Milk? ad campaign alongside other notable sponsored athletes including, NBA star Carmelo Anthony, Olympic swimmer Dara Torres, and Olympic speed skater Apolog Ohno, among others.

“It’s really awesome to be up to be apart of Got Chocolate Milk’s Team REFUEL,” said Veach. “I’ve always been a big milk drinker—especially chocolate milk, so this opportunity is a perfect match. All the Got Milk advertisements with the athletes in them are something I’ve dreamed about being apart of since as long as I can remember. Who knows, maybe I’ll be the first driver to drink chocolate milk in victory circle at the Indy 500 one day! I’m honored to be up for this and really appreciate everyone’s votes!”
The exclusive team of athletes recognized as Team REFUEL makes up Got Chocolate Milk’s campaign to build healthier bodies while not sacrificing taste. The athletes of Team REFUEL understand the role that low-fat chocolate milk plays as part of their after to help refuel their bodies so they can be at their best. They’re impassioned and committed to their sport and they’ve made it their goal to inspire others to be their best.
Veach, of Stockdale, Oh., became a finalist in the campaign after a panel of judges rated a video he submitted about his “after.” It was rated based on expression of enthusiasm for “got chocolate milk?” brand; originality and creativity of video; his ability to demonstrate and convey positive refuel with chocolate milk message and how it is incorporated into his recovery routine.
The 18-year-old racer wouldn’t be the first driver to appear in a Got Milk? ad campaign. NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon appeared in an advert in 1997 and Veach’s former Andretti Autosport teammate Danica Patrick appeared in the campaign in 2009.
Voting is now open and ends on the last day of January at 11:59 AM EST, with users allowed to vote once per day. For each vote cast, $1 will go to the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
