Australian GT Reveals Exciting Year Ahead In 2013

After a solid debut year for the new management team, planning is already well underway for the 2013 Australian GT Championship presented by Pirelli, with new race formats, an ‘international’ event in New Zealand and the introduction of an exciting new presenting partner all put into place.

To further solidify the future direction of the category, late in 2012 an entrants group was formed to assist category manager Ken Collier and category owner Tony Quinn with the ongoing development and future direction of the sport, which has resulted in a closer relationship between the AGT category management team and the entrants group.

Collier revealed that despite speculation that the management group were changing focus in 2013, the ownership and management of AGT would not change into the foreseeable future. “I can confirm to all AGT teams and partners that Tony Quinn will remain as the sole owner of the Australian GT Sportscar Group Pty Ltd which holds the Category Management Agreement for AGT.

“The category management team will not change and I look forward to both Margaret [Collier] and myself working with our technical manager Mark Trounson to manage the category and events in 2013 and beyond.

“The AGT entrants group will be a part of our consultation process for the category going forward,” he added. “I respect the advice that the group has already given to us and I know we will work well with all of the teams who are supporting the category.

“Tony Quinn and his son Klark (who is the reigning Australian GT Champion), will both compete in the Australian GT Championship presented by Pirelli in 2013.”

“I am really happy that the AGT entrants group have confirmed their support for how the category is being managed,” category owner Tony Quinn added. “I am able to concentrate on competing and doing the distance, so all I can say is bring on 2013!”
