The EcoCAR program is a one-of-a-kind, three-year collegiate engineering competition involving elite student teams from 15 universities in the United States and Canada. The program, which focuses on science, technology, engineering and math education, offers students hands-on, real-world experience designing more efficient and environmentally friendly fuel systems for commercial automobiles.
The EcoCAR2 program stems from more than two decades of successful advanced vehicle technology competitions established by the U.S. Department of Energy in a public-private partnership designed to educate, train and recruit the next generation of automotive engineers. As part of the EcoCAR2 competition, students are working to reduce the environmental impact of a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu without compromising the vehicle’s performance, safety or consumer appeal.
Austin-based Freescale will host the EcoCAR2 2013 Winter Workshop and will co-sponsor the event with dSPACE Inc.
