2013 Daytona 24: Circuit Of The Americas Logo Featured On Gainsco/Bob Stallings No 99 'Red Dragon'
Circuit of The Americas’ distinctive logo will be featured prominently on the No. 99 GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing Corvette Daytona Prototype that is expected to be one of the winning contenders in this weekend’s Rolex 24 At Daytona, Jan. 26-27, the season-opening race in the 2013 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series.

The No. 99 GAINSCO Corvette, better known as the “Red Dragon,” is owned and operated by the GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing team, based in Lewisville, Texas, and sponsored by Dallas-based GAINSCO Auto Insurance. The entire rear wing on the bright, red No. 99 has been dedicated to promoting Round 2 of this year’s GRAND-AM Rolex Series, the GRAND-AM of The Americas presented by GAINSCO and TOTAL, which will take place March 1-2.
The graphic displays the Circuit’s name and vibrant red and orange “flame” trademark along the entire span of the rear wing. This is the first time a competing car in an internationally relevant race will carry the Circuit of The Americas mark.
The special Rolex 24 placement is in recognition of GAINSCO’s recently announced presenting sponsorship of the Austin Circuit’s first GRAND-AM Road Racing event. The company chose to promote its new corporate partnership with a special addition to its namesake GAINSCO “Red Dragon” Daytona Prototype as the GRAND-AM Rolex Series begins its new season.
“We are pleased to welcome GAINSCO as a presenting sponsor for our first motorsports event of 2013,” Circuit Chief Marketing and Revenue Officer Geoff Moore said. “It is important to us to have Texas-based support from a company that has consistently displayed excellence in motorsports. As an accomplished player and two-time champion team in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series, GAINSCO will add to what we expect will be an exciting event.”
One of the premier teams in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series, GAINSCO/Bob Stallings won the 2007 and 2009 Daytona Prototype team and driver championships with lead drivers Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty. The duo will be joined by fellow Daytona Prototype race winners Memo Gidley and Darren Law in this weekend’s Rolex 24 with the green flag scheduled to drop this Saturday, Jan. 26, at 3:30 p.m. EST. Live coverage on SPEED begins Saturday at 3 p.m. EST.
The 2013 Rolex 24 starts the eighth straight season Gurney and Fogarty will co-drive together in the No. 99 GAINSCO “Red Dragon.” They are now the longest-running duo in the series in terms of consecutive active starts with 87 after racing together for the first time five races into the 2006 season. They have been teammates at GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing at every one of those races.
“Among our stated goals since GAINSCO Auto Insurance entered major league sports car racing competition in 2005 was to win the Rolex 24 At Daytona and someday have the privilege of racing in our important home-market state of Texas,” said GAINSCO Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing Andy Jordan. “Circuit of The Americas has made our Texas race goal a reality and a win this weekend in the Rolex 24, while carrying the logo of the GRAND-AM of The Americas presented by GAINSCO and TOTAL, would be a banner day for GAINSCO.”
