Dodge/RCH Racing - Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series Race Quotes - Round 4 - Oakland

BROC TICKLE (No. 20 Dodge/Sycuan Casino/RCH Racing/Bel-Ray/Suzuki Z450) Finished 8th
DESPITE STARTING 19TH IN THE MAIN EVENT YOU SURVIVED THE LAP 1 MULTI-RIDER WRECK AND EARNED YOUR FIRST TOP 10 OF THE SEASON: “Yeah, it feels pretty good. I feel like I should have been fifth or sixth tonight, but we’ll take eighth. We had another good points night and continue to chop away at cracking the top 10.”

IT WAS A GREAT COMEBACK TONIGHT FOR YOU: “Practice went well. We made some changes before the first timed practice and we may have gone the wrong way. We changed our combination back for the second timed practice and I felt the best that I have all year at the track. We came out seventh in the second timed practice and I felt great. I made a little mistake in the Heat Race and jumped off the track and face planted into a hay bale. I got up and finished down in the pack and had to go run the LCQ (Last Chance Qualifier). The LCQ was good. I had a great start and got the lead pretty early and just settled into a good ride to make the Main Event. It’s kind of nice to go to the LCQ. It’s the most nervous you’ll ever be at the race track. I want to stay away from the LCQ’s, but it was good tonight to get some track time. I loved the track tonight.

“In the Main I started way outside and just did the best that I could to get up front and survive the first turn. I weaseled my way through the first two corners because a lot of guys went down and I started just picking guys off. I settled in and struggled getting around Shorty (Andrew Short) and had to be patient. There were a few guys that I just couldn’t get around but I was riding a good pace. We got an eighth-place finish. We were better than last week and that was the goal, keep on improving every week. We’ll head this week to work on some things and go back to Anaheim next weekend and keep going after a podium finish.”

HOW DID YOU SURVIVE THE MULTI-RIDER WRECK ON LAP 1? “Fortunately I was in the back of the pack because of not getting the automatic transfer from the Heat Race. I missed some guys in the first corner and I just kept looking ahead and watched guys fall to the ground in the second corner and just scooted by them. There were guys everywhere and I just basically weaved my way through the mess and kept riding”

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED TODAY WITH A TOP-10 FINISH AND GOOD POINT NIGHT? “For sure. We’re making progress every week and tonight we had some results to show for all the hard work we’re putting in. All the RCH Racing guys are busting their butts and it’s nice to battle hard all night and get them some results.”

YOU WERE RUNNING FOURTH IN YOUR HEAT RACE ON LAP 5 WHEN YOU WENT DOWN. WHAT HAPPENED? “I came over a table top section and when I landed there were a lot of ruts. I just kind of landed and it jerked me to the right and it threw me into a hay bale.”

THE TRACK LOOKED TO BE PRETTY TECHNICAL AND SLICK TODAY IN OAKLAND: “I loved the track conditions and the dirt here. The track was rutted out and soft in some places. It kind of had everything. I enjoy coming up to Oakland and racing and despite getting a little bit behind tonight we came out with a good finish. Our Dodge/Sycuan Casino/RCH Racing/Bel-Ray/Suzuki Z450 was fast all day.”
