Bobby Gerhart Gunning For 9th Victory In Lucas Oil/MAVTV American Real 200 In Daytona Speedweeks
Bobby Gerhart will attempt to add to his marvelous record with a ninth victory in the Lucas Oil 200 presented by MAVTV American Real, the ARCA Racing Series-sanctioned opening race of Budweiser Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 16.

Gerhart has won three in a row, six of the last eight and eight of 12 since 1999 in his No. 5 Lucas Oil/MAVTV American Real Chevrolet. This will be ARCA's 50th anniversary race at Daytona and when you look at it in that perspective, we've won eight of 49 and that's a pretty big accomplishment for any race team," Gerhart said. "You look at the volume of high caliber teams we've been competing against which includes some of the NASCAR teams and that's a strong record.
"Any race you win at Daytona is a great feeling and we're fortunate that ARCA has the opportunity to run there. It's the biggest race of the year for us."
Other previous winners of the Lucas Oil 200 include Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman, Kenny Irwin, Tim Richmond, Kyle Petty, Benny Parsons, Lennie Pond and Joe Ruttman.
Does Gerhart, a 44-year-old from Lebanon, Pa., have a secret to success in the 80-lap race that requires supreme drafting skill on the iconic Daytona high-banked 2.5-mile track?
"Probably the secret is patience and a very, very stern commitment to win this race," he said. "It takes partners to do that. We've been very fortunate to have Lucas Oil be our sponsor for eight years. I know we're not going to win them all, but they put us in a position to keep everybody honest."
The Lucas Oil 200 presented by MAVTV begins with practice on Feb. 14, Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell for positions one through 30 is Feb. 15 and the race is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET on Feb. 16.
