Rob Bell Heads To Le Mans 24 Hours Race With Aston Martin Racing
Leading British sportscar driver, Rob Bell, will be driving an Aston Martin Vantage GTE at the famed Le Mans 24 Hour race, as the Newcastle-born driver takes on the ultimate sportscar endurance challenge for a sixth time.

McLaren factory driver, Bell, will share driving duties of the No.99 Aston Martin Vantage GTE with two other strong racers, Formula One driver Bruno Senna and Frenchman Frédéric Makowiecki. The trio of drivers will compete in the GTE PRO class at the famed Le Mans race, alongside a sister, No.97, car. Aston Martin Racing is also entering two Vantage GTE cars in the GTE Am class. In preparation for his Le Mans debut with Aston Martin Racing Bell will join his team mates at the Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, a round of the World Endurance Championship.
Bell says, “I’m delighted to be going back to Le Mans for another crack at the 24 Hours race and very excited to be driving with Aston Martin Racing. I have two very capable team mates in Bruno and Frédéric, so we should be formidable opposition in the GTE PRO class.
“I would like to thank Aston Martin Racing for giving me the opportunity to race with them and my thanks go also to McLaren for recognising how important it is to me as a sportscar racer to campaign the holy grail of endurance racing and be at Le Mans 24 Hours”.
He adds,“Knowing that I’ll be back behind the wheel at Le Mans this year puts a big grin on my face. I love the circuit, the event, the atmosphere and driving in the most revered, prestigious races of all time. I can’t wait for June and racing down that Mulsanne Straight – heaven!”
Bell is currently preparing for another season of duties as a McLaren factory driver, working with the marque on development of its GT race model. His association with this great British race and road car company has already given him a special moment this season, when he was given the privilege of driving Bruce McLaren’s M8D CanAm sportscar at the recent unveiling of the 2013 Formula 1 challenger. At the F1 launch event the team kicked off a year of 50th anniversary celebrations with a spectacular parade of classic racing cars running around the perimeter of the McLaren Technology Centre, led by Bell in the M8D.
