There are 16 days left before the Feb. 24, 2013 Daytona 500; hence, today’s number is:
16: The number of career victories posted by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Ryan Newman, the only driver past or present with exactly 16 wins, good for 49th on the all-time list. Newman’s most productive year by far was 2003; in his sophomore season, Rocket Man won 11 poles and eight races, half his career victory total. In four seasons with Stewart-Haas Racing, Newman has three wins. A strong qualifier throughout his career, Newman has 49 poles to his credit, tied with Bobby Isaac for ninth on the all-time list.
