Hahn And Bell Take Over Title Hunt For Geico Honda Supercross Team, Bogle On Hold

The Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series' 250SX East season opener on Saturday at Cowboys Stadium is a fresh start and a homecoming all rolled into one for GEICO Honda star rider Wil Hahn.

"I've been ready to go racing since January," Hahn said. "But you have to wait your turn, and I feel like the East is a good choice for me this year. It's cool because I'll get to start the year with my family and all my friends from Dallas."

Hahn, who grew up in Kansas, lived for a time outside of Dallas before moving to Southern California to be near team headquarters. He is completely healthy for the first time since he joined the GEICO Honda team three years ago.

"It's been a while since I've had a full off-season to prepare," Hahn said. "The last few times it's been a very rushed process because of past injuries and other mishaps I've had. It's nice to have my body healed and to have the time to test my bike.

"I'm looking forward to the season. We go to a lot of cool stadiums in the East. You can really feel the energy in those big, packed indoor stadiums."

Teammate Zach Bell is more than ready to embark on his first Supercross experience. GEICO Honda's rookie moved up from the amateur ranks last summer and is excited about his opportunity on the sport's biggest stage.

"I've been working on Supercross tracks and I'm feeling really good," Bell said. "I've been working my butt off and have been getting some great help in training and with the technical stuff on the track. I want to start the year healthy and have some fun out there."

Bell said he has already been mapping out a strategy for how he'd like his maiden Supercross race to unfold.

"Hopefully, I'll get holeshots and ride up front," Bell said. "I just want to run my own races out there. Right now, I don't feel like I have a point to prove."

The team's third East rider, Justin Bogle, is listed as week-to-week while recovering from a wrist injury. He will not compete in Dallas.

"I've been doing everything I can to get back as soon as I can," Bogle said. "I've been going to physical therapy five times a week and I'm riding my bicycle to keep my fitness up. I'll be ready to go as soon as my wrist lets me."

Practice for Saturday's race gets under way at 12:30 p.m. CST at Cowboys Stadium with opening ceremonies scheduled for 7 p.m. SPEED TV will air the race live starting at 8:30 p.m. EST.
