First Formula Victory For Weiron Tan On Formula Gulf 1000 Debut

Starting out on the back foot, Weiron was unable to show his pace in qualifying due to a misfiring engine, which had hampered his weekend since first practice, denying him important track time in the car. His problems continued into the first race, forcing him into the pits with a persistent misfire that eventually put an early end to his endeavours.
However, he finally got the opportunity to demonstrate his skills in race two with his car fixed. Starting from the back of the grid, he weaved his way through the pack to take the lead early on in the race. He maintained position throughout, setting some impressive laptimes on his way to the top step of the rostrum.
Weiron will complete the remainder of the Formula Gulf 1000 championship. The next two races will take place in Abu Dhabi at Yas Marina on 15 March, with the season rounding off on 29 March at the Dubai Autodrome.
Weiron Tan: “It felt really good to be back in the car again after such a long time since I last raced due to a delay in my visa application process for my university studies in the UK. Now I can fully focus on the racing once again, and I couldn’t have wished for a better return to action that getting my first race win in formula cars. It was an amazing feeling and I can’t wait to get on the top step of the podium again. I will definitely be aiming for wins in the Abu Dhabi and Dubai races that will wrap up the Formula Gulf 1000 championship.”
