Hammer Down From The First Green Light For Hanley

Chris Hanley got off to a flying start at the first round of the UDC NZV8 Ute Series, taking three of the four race wins over the weekend at Hampton Downs to secure the round and take an early series lead.

And if that wasn’t enough for the up and coming V8 racing star, he annihilated the Ute record for Hampton Downs, taking over a second off the previous mark set in 2010. It was action all the way as the Utes got stuck into a tricky Hampton Downs circuit, the big machines a crowd pleaser as the twelve drivers provided some spectacular racing throughout the weekend.

It was Hanley all the way, however, his clean sweep of pole position, fastest lap, lap record and four wins only broken by Peter Ward in the third race on Sunday morning.

"I was pretty confident before the weekend but have to say I'm delighted to have won three of the four races and taken more than a second off the old Ute lap record set in 2010. If I hadn't made a mistake in Race 3 I am pretty sure we could have done better than third in that one. Stoneman Race Tech have really done a fantastic job preparing our Ute and it ran faultlessly throughout the weekend. A big thumbs up to them and all of our sponsors. It's been a great start to our season."

Peter Ward was a superb second for the round, whilst series debutant Rob Gibson excelled on his UDC NZV8 Ute debut to take third for the round.
