There are six days left before the season-opening Daytona 500; hence, today’s number is:
6: The number of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series career victories recorded by Jamie McMurray, three of which have come on restrictor-plate superspeedways. McMurray has an affinity for big races. Subbing for injured Sterling Marlin, he won at Charlotte in the fall of 2002 in his second Cup start. McMurray’s other triumphs include the 2007 July race at Daytona, the 2009 fall race at Talladega, the 2010 Daytona 500, 2010 Brickyard 400 and 2010 fall Charlotte race.
