With the result, the four teams in the group have the same three points: but Grêmio lead on goal difference (2) and Fluminense is in the last placed, with a balance of less than two goals. In the next round, Grêmio faces Caracas, on the 5th of March at the Arena. Flu visits Huachipato, from Chile, next Wednesday.
Ten minutes into the second half, left-back Andre Santos took advantage of the rebound after goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri tried to defend a shot from Barcos and scored the second goal of Grêmio. The other two goals were scored by Barcos and Vargas.
"Without a doubt. It was a very difficult game. And in the third game with the shirt of Grêmio I can say that I made my real debut. I was able to play well with the help of my teammates, score goal and earning an important victory. But I'm still in search of my ideal football. I want to reach my form as soon as possible and help Grêmio in this Libertadores," said André Santos who had played before against Huachipato at the Libertadores Cup and Veranópolis at the Gaucho State Championship.
