By PaddockTalk.com Staff Writers
Following the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide season opener at Daytona International Speedway in advance of the 2013 Daytona 500, DIS President Joie Chitwood indicated that, "First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with our race fans."
Chitwood would continue saying, "Following the incident, we responded appropriately according to our safety protocols and had emergency medical personnel at the incident immediately. We transported 14 people off property and 14 were treated at our on-track care center."
The USAToday is now reporting that two fans are in critical condition, and that one is a minor child. Apparently, one of those two has life-threatening injuries.
All we can do at this time is hope, and pray for the best.
As for the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup opener - the Daytona 500 - repairs are expected to be completed well in advance of the green flag. The weather forecast continues to show threatening signs.
