2013 Daytona 500: LIVE NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Update - Danica Patrick Slighted By James Franco
By PaddockTalk.com Staff Writers
At the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup season opening - and 55th - Daytona 500, James Franco, star of the Disney fantastical adventure 'Oz The Great and Powerful,' was serving as Grand Marshal and gave the command to start engines.
However, rather than the traditional "Lady and Gentlemen" or other passive phrases used when a woman driver is in the field, Franco shouted "Drivers," paused with dramatic effect "and Danica. Start your engines."
It sure came off as a slight intended towards the 2013 Daytona 500 Polesitter, Danica Patrick.
While Danica Mania has been part of the NASCAR circuit for a couple of years now, it appears that some are becoming more vocal about the constant attention the 100-pound swimsuit phenom gets in comparison to others - especially champions - in the field.
And if you think this is the only instance this week... Patrick's car owner Tony Stewart hit out at the media during a press conference after three straight questions were asked about Tony and his teammate Danica. Stewart said, "You know, I do have another teammate, his name is Ryan Newman."
Enjoy!
